The system is not working, it is impractical.
Are the rules there to help, or are they simply designed to pay lip service to giving
assistance?
It’s disingenuous as these are genuine applications for assistance.
When I’ve raised these cases with the Minister, he says he “sympathises” with the applicant,
but nothing changes.
It’s not good enough.
The Minister sits at the Cabinet table and is the one who signs off on these rules.
At the end of the day the buck stops with the Minister.
What has he actually done?
The Minister should either change the rules or recommend the rules to be changed.
Otherwise, he is only paying lip service to helping farmers and businesses with flood support.
